As you know, I'm in my second year. This semester consists on 17 credits (max is 18), 5 classes, and 4 labs. My wonderful school schedule is:
Data Communications & Networking (and 2+ hour lab)
Database Fundamentals (and 2 hour lab)
Object-Oriented Programing (and 2 hour lab)
Physics 218 (and 2 hour lab)
I also have to work a minimum of 12 hours a week.
So, needless to say, I am definitely stretched pretty thin.
Honestly, all I do is go to class, go to work, go back to my dorm and do homework, and then sleep.
Literally, I was talking to a girl in my hallway yesterday and she say "You look terribly tried and exhausted" and to be honest, I really am. Especially these past few weeks if midterms (ugh).
If you don't believe me that that is what my schedule is like, you can ask my boyfriend, he is always talking about how he never sees me outside of class. Okay, well that's a lie, I sometimes make me come over and help me with subnetting or troubleshoot my programs. Needless to say, he isn't quite happy about this.
But did I mention that I also have 2 other jobs. No where near as demanding, but still has some what of a time commitment.
I honestly just sometimes need a break, and by a break I mean like a literally one night off would be great.
I know I probably sound like a broken record or you are like "Anna, why are you being so dramatic?" but this is serious. Like yesterday I had class from 7:30-2:30, work from 3-7, and then I went into lab to try to figure out a problem we are having (that is also annoying that no students, TA, or my professor can figure out). YAY college.
Regardless to all this complaining, I am beyond grateful for every single opportunity I have been given and would not trade it for the world.
Now on to something you care about more....
I didn't have time to go into photoshop and create an outfit layout for you (I'll try to do that later). In the meantime I'll show you similar things I have been wearing courtesy of my favorite bloggers.
Yes, I know I haven't posted in like a year. I could make an excuse but I won't because frankly I forgot and I kind of didn't want to blog anymore. But, I missed and I couldn't stay away.
Yes, my posts are slightly different, I have grown, evolved. I have different interests now. However, fashion is still an interest of mine, I just kind of keep that more to Pinterest and Tumblr. I will try to still most some fashion things on here though because I know that's what you love.
Anyway, on to this post. If you didn't know, I am going to be a sophomore at Purdue University (#BOILERUP) and I am a Computer and Information Technology major focusing on Networking and Cyber Forensics and Security. Last year I was in a learning community, Women in Tech, so first semester we class and majority of the girls on my floor were in the College of Technology.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you how horrible it is to be a women in tech and how you are going to be singled out or everyone is going to this you are stupid or weak. I have been through those situations but not enough to make me feel insecure, it's more like "Wow, college boys are stupid". However, women in tech seem to be a very close knit community which is amazing!
Now, #confessiontime I am addicted to Linkedin. I know that's random and unexpected but it's true.
I found a few good articles about women in tech or women in business on there recently so I thought I would share. There are also some great Ted Talks, check my Pinterest " G O A L S" page those for those.
*** I meant to post this like A LONG time ago which a video of photos but I kind of forget. Right once school Spring semester ended, I had to go to my sister's graduation and commissioning, had like a week or two off, and since then I have been very busy with my summer classes. Anyway, it's posted now!
You are going to be 9000 types of people, don't be judgmental.
Talk to everyone- you never know who is going to end up being your friends
Go to Class- professor's notice when you are there.
Go to class looking presentable, it makes them feel like you put effort into their class and your education
Go to office hours- it shows your professors that you are trying
NEVER GIVE UP- you never know what assignment could change your grade
Check the calendar, early and often- you never know when things will change
Learn to twerk
If you lose the first friend you make at your university, it's okay, you'll find others.
There is drama... just don't let it take precedent over your classes
You never know whose roommate has a crush on you... (*wink wink Jeremy*)
You'll reconsider your major- but be confident it is the right choice for you.
Go to career fairs and hand out your resume, even if you are a freshman (My friend gave one to a company and got an email to interview for the Fall- it's her dream job)
Freshman year, your friends are going to change often
You don't have to go out
If you do go out, Jungle Juice is stronger then you think it is
If you do go out, tell someone staying in where you are going and who is going with you (PEOPLE PANIC WHEN THEY CAN'T FIND OUT WHERE YOU ARE! *cough cough Randy*)
If you do go out, make sure you go out with someone you trust and will make sure you will get back to your dorm
Have someone that will save you for getting hit on when your drunk
Have someone always ready with pizza for you when you, inevitably, come back drunk
Don't get a reputation- unless it's a good one
Try to get a job
Don't freak out if you loose contact with people from High School
Spotify and Pandora are your best friends
USE THE LIBRARIES
Find friends in your major who can help you and you can study with- and ask your 900000 questions too
Have someone who can always make you laugh
Have someone who has faith in you and can reassure you
